TotalNET Advanced Server Licensing

How is TotalNET Advanced Server Licensed?

First of all, TotalNET Advanced Server is licensed by the seat.  These seats are authorized as part of what we call a “license pool”.   A license pool consists of a group of licensed TAS clients that need to access one or more TAS licensed servers. Each server and each client is licensed only one time.

TAS licensing has three components:

TAS Base Server:

This can be a single standalone server or the first server in the pool. It includes 25 built-in seat licenses. This server is essentially the license server for the pool. in that the number of licensed TAS users on it defines the number of licensed TAS users in the pool.

Purchase Cost w/1st Year's CustomerCare                                               $  4,100.00 ea.
Annual CustomerCare Support Agreement      $     600.00 ea.

Additional Servers:

These are the other servers accessed by the licensed TAS users in a pool. These servers do not have their own TAS client connection licenses. Instead, they inherit the licensed TAS users from the base server. So, if a Base Server is licensed for 100 users, each of these servers is licensed for the same 100 users to access them.   Each connection to a server in the pool counts as a connection against the 100 licensed TAS users on that server. So one person simultaneously connected to 4 servers counts as 1 connection of 100 on each server, not four from the 100 licensed connections in the pool.

Purchase Price w/1st Year's CustomerCare $   1,825.00 ea.
Annual CustomerCare Support Agreement $      325.00 ea.

Additional Client Connections:

If you need more than 25 licensed users, you would purchase additional Client Connections in packs of 25, 50 or 100 Client Connections. Every server in the pool would be licensed to the total number of purchased TAS licenses. So, if you have four servers in a pool in which you have purchased 100 user licenses, you would have 100 users on each of the four server.

Any additional servers purchased for the pool would be automatically licensed to the current level of users without additional investment in client connections. In turn any additional users purchased to the pool would initiate new licenses for all servers in the pool.

25 Client Connections:
Purchase Cost w/ first year’s CustomerCare Support $  4,400.00 ea.
Annual CustomerCare Support Renewal $     650.00 ea.
50 Client Connections:
Purchase Cost w/ first year’s CustomerCare Support $  7,000.00 ea.
Annual CustomerCare Support Agreement $  1,100.00 ea.
100 Client Connections:
Purchase Cost w/ first year’s CustomerCare Support $ 10,000.00 ea.
Annual CustomerCare Support Agreement $   2,000.00 ea.

In a ClearCase installation, we provide 50% more licenses than purchased to take in account for the additional connections that a ClearCase user spawns off when they initiate their log-on. These are provided free of charge in order to facilitate a greater number of simultaneous ClearCase user logons. You are not charged for these "bonus" connections during your initial purchase or when your CustomerCare is renewed. However, these are not considered additional users because they were not purchased. If you need to accommodate more than 15 ClearCase developers, you would need to purchase more TAS licenses. They too would receive bonus connections.
